imagesBeware of wild animals that attack dogs. I’ll never forget the image when I looked out my kitchen window one early spring morning to see my favorite dog in the whole wide world, “Piute” in the jaws of a coyote. I raced outside the front door in my nightgown screaming “LET GO LET GO LET GO!!!” — the coyote dropped my sweet dog and ran off. Piute was severely injured, hyperventilating, eyes glazed. I wrapped her carefully in a blanket and brought her inside where she died minutes later —this put a hole in my heart that lingers to this very day. Living outside the city offers peace, quiet, the twinkling of stars and a world away from the craziness of human beings. With pets you have to be vigilant of wild animals, though, that can sneak up on your pet when you least expect it. Make sure you have a fenced in yard for starters and that when they are unsupervised that they are safe. Coyotes, Snakes, Cougars,Raccoons, Squirrels, Scorpions, Porcupines, Skunks, Ground hogs, and Rats are always lurking nearby. I see them on a daily basis in my neck of the woods (well maybe not the Cougars).  Lisa
